TMDS, or Transition-Minimized Differential Signaling, is a core component of the protocol used in DVI, giving us a robust way to send pixels and control signals over a DVI or HDMI link. The component we focus on here takes an arbitrary 8-bit byte and passes it through some manipulation to turn it into a 10-bit sequence with properties better suited for the wire.
